The Royal Canal, between reeds and castles

Canale Reale is one of the rare waterways between Salento and the lower Murgia. It is 48 kilometers long.

Its source, located in the municipality of Villa Castelli, is surrounded by a reed bed that makes it difficult to access; after crossing the province of Brindisi almost longitudinally, it reaches the Adriatic Sea in the locality of Iazzo San Giovanni, near the natural oasis of Torre Guaceto.
