
The Bradano River was historically used as a natural border between different entities. In particular, it represented the border between Terra d’Otranto and Lucania until 1663. In Roman times, however, the river had represented the administrative border between the Augustan region of Apulia and that of Lucania.
In some stretches of the river (especially in the Lucanian part, you can practice extreme sports such as canyoning)
The fish fauna is essentially represented by trout, southern bleak and chub. In addition to the eel, the grey mullet, the rovella, the perch, the dogfish, the sea bass, the river crab, up to the carp.
